Should You Hire an External Firm?

1. 1. Have you reported the scam to every institution involved?

   (Bank, Wise/Revolut, PayPal, card issuer, crypto exchange)

   • No: Do that first.
   • Yes: Continue.

2. 2. Has it been less than 24 hours since the money was last at a bank, payment provider, or exchange?

   • Yes: Speed matters to freeze funds. Consider urgent specialist help if the lost value is at least 5 times the specialist fee.
   • No: Freezing is unlikely. Continue.

3. 3. Did you approve the payments yourself (even if tricked)?

   • Yes: Your main recovery path is reimbursement from institutions for negligence.
   • No: Report as unauthorized fraud immediately.

4. 4. Did you lose more than $100,000?

   • No: Hiring a firm is usually not financially rational.
   • Yes: A regulated solicitor or specialist may be worth consulting.
